Had dinner at this restaurant tonight and the food was excellent. I had fish chowder first which was delicious. My entree was broiled shrimp served with baked beans and cole slaw and a buttery dipping sauce. My husband had fried mullet. The portions were large and his diner was all you can eat. With the amount of fish they served, he did not ask for seconds. Our server was warm and friendly and very good at her job. She was attentive and we lacked nothing. The atmosphere is homey and there is a fish store right next door if you want to cook at home. I would recommend this restaurant as the food is good and the price is very reasonable.

Not what we expected! The oil was old tasty. The grouper hoagie was not tasty because the cooking oil tasted fishy. I had clam strips and they were fair. If I return to the area, I will eat often water in Cedar Key. This place has a seafood market also and the seafood smelled very fishy as well. Disappointment.

Absolutely great food.... so worth the two hour drive. We enjoyed the smoked mullet dip. The all you can eat is super reasonable at 13.95. Great fresh fried mullet, oysters, and shrimp.

Neat little place in the middle of nowhere. I had the seafood Hogie and it was delicious. The shrimp on the Hogie really made the meal. If I am ever in the area again I will most certainly go back and will likely get just the fried shrimp... Probably the best I've eaten. Highly recommended!:) Also, very fresh and clean looking seafood market next door.

My review is based on my limited experience at Robinson's. I went here not to eat in, but to buy fish from their small market right next to their dining room. While staying out in Cedar Key, we were going to do a fish fry for family, so we stopped by Robinson's before arriving. They are about 20min or so inland from Cedar Key. When entering their market, it didn't smell fishy at all which was a good sign. We purchased a couple pounds of grouper and some of their homemade tartar. They packed in some ice to keep the fish fresh for the remaining trip. The service was quick and friendly. When we got around to pulling the fish out to cook, we were impressed at how fresh the fish was. There wasn't any fishy smell you sometimes get when getting fish that isn't very fresh. It also tasted wonderful, and was the best quality fish I've ever eaten. The tartar was also well received by the rest of the family. It's worth stopping by for the fresh fish.

Fish was great. Nicely fried , greens were all very fresh and crisp. Definitely got this on my faves list.

We stopped here because we were hungry & there didn't seem to be any restaurants nearby. I'm glad we did! Our dinners reminded me of my childhood fish fries after a day out in the boat. My shrimp was fresh & tender. Dredged only in flour, sat, & pepper, it was served up hot & crunchy. My husband had the grouper. Again, simply dredged in flour, it was moist inside & perfectly crunchy outside. The hush puppies were like the ones Mommy made. The Key lime pie was homemade & had the required tartness. The only food that was not perfect was the cole slaw-- too sweet fur my husband's taste. The decor is simple, but don't let that deter you. Fried seafood at its finest.

I ate here again last night, for the third time, and introduced a friend from New York to the wonders of Robinson's. He loved it, too. By far, they have the best fried shrimp in Florida or Georgia that I've had yet--and I lived in Savannah, Georgia, too. What's more, they often have all you can eat fried shrimp, which comes with cole slaw and hush puppies plus either lima beans and rice or a grouper chowder. I always get the chowder and it's great, plus the fried shrimp and hush puppies are so fresh they're too hot to eat when they first come out--you have to wait a minute for them to cool. The shrimp are local and sourced from Robinson's own shrimping boats, as they run a wholesale and retail fish market, too, plus a fishing charter business. The restaurant is small, but perfect at what they do and the service is always friendly. Considering that all you can eat shrimp is only $11.95, it's a whale of a deal, too. In addition, they have other specials and some regular menu items. One of the places I simply cannot recommend enough in Florida, honestly, it doesn't get any better than this!

The seafood is fresh and good clams shrimp and oysters and the rest of the meal is terrible slaw no flavor beans right out of the can hush puppies dry store bought batter the clam chowder has no cream just a watery broth of potato bacon and a scares clam in the clam capital of Florida really

If you are a mullet fan--don't miss this! Excellent fried shrimp and sides. Tasty home style seafood cooking. The cafe is simple but pleasant. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want a taste of real Florida, take a break from franchises and eat here.

Finally ate at the restaurant and I was a little disappointed frankly. Steamed clams were a shame to Cedar Key, steamed to death and rubbery, with no briny goodness left. The clam chowder was okay, not as rich as I would've liked and was extremely undersalted. We had the all you can eat fried mullet, shrimp, and crabcakes, which were all pretty good. Had the chocolate cream pie and cherry cobbler for dessert, which were a delight.

Just finished my second visit to and it was very good. The AYCE special, $12.95, was superb. It combined the fried mullet, sea bass, and shrimp or you could choose any of the 3. It came with choice of clam chowder or Lima beans with rice..I chose the chowder. My wife had the blue crab claws, broiled, with the same choice of sides. Both came with cole slaw and hush puppies. The chowder was good but under seasoned and a little thin for my taste but good flavor overall with lots of potatoes. needed more clams though. The Lima beans were also under seasoned but good. The broiled blue crab claws were so-so, not the best we've had but not the worst. The cole slaw was good but not outstanding. Now for the good part. The fried mullet was FANTASTIC, hot, fresh and fired with the skin on. The fried shrimp are some of the best I have ever eaten. The fried sea bass was also very good but not nearly as good as the mullet or the shrimp. Reorders came out fast and were so hot you needed to let them cool before you could eat them. Overall it was a very good meal. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Prices on the rest of the menu are very affordable. Will definitely be back. Would have given 5 stars if chowder were thicker with more clams and properly seasoned. Same with the Lima beans. If you want good fresh seafood by all means stop in for a great meal.

Great place and good prices. We had crab cakes, oysters and mullet. The mullet was fried with the skin on the way it should be. They all were fresh hot and tasty. A great place for kids as well. Kids meal was only $5.95 and the all you can eat was only $11.95 I will eat here again.

While I have never eaten in the restaurant. I stop at the market every time I pass to buy their smoked fish. It is wonderful and makes a great dip.

I as well just go for the market. Unbelievable prices. Nothing like buying seafood that just came off the boat.

All I can say is eat their fried oysters. None better, not greasy. Served with slaw and beans. Simple but good. The fried shrimp are a close second.
